I've never seen such a beautiful beam engine model with a fully working flyball governor, so I absolutely needed to buy this kit. Assembling was easy and great fun. And the little engine runs perfectly even for the first time! This is really a great high quality model that brings so much joy - I would buy it again without hesitation.

Overall impression:
I was very impressed with the overall quality and "fit and finish" of this model. There is very little I can find to complain about in this regard. Despite some of the minor negatives I'll discuss in a moment, my overall impression is very positive and I would not hesitate to recommend this model to anyone who has an interest in these things. The asking price is a bit on the high side, but given the niche market this appeals to, along with the high quality and solid construction of the unit makes me think that I got a fair deal for my money.
Directions are extremely vague and some steps out of order. No exploded view to ensure proper assembly. Has a scale saying 1:1 which they shrunk down to save money on printing so you have to guess the right part. All parts put into same bag instead of by subassembly. Have to use other pieces not in set to get push rods to work properly and not fall out. The tolerances are horrible. Had to use a mallet to drive numerous pieces together. Other ones so loose they don't do what they need to. Had several damaged pieces that I replaced with various leftovers from other sets. Overall aesthetic looks great. Fit and finish not so much.
I have two HM-01s and am absolutely happy with them. It is important that the Ground makes contact. I have attached it to the engine block in three places.

This is a great kit and was fun to build. The assembly instructions were easy to follow and the manufacturer provided fast reply’s to my questions. Tools and some spare parts that were required to assemble the steam engine were also in the kit. The steam engine runs smoothly and the Stevenson reverse lever works great works great!
I highly recommend this model kit.
